HOUSTON (AP) -- The Houston Rockets have been fined by the NBA for a trip to Las Vegas last week.

"They took them to Las Vegas in the middle of a road trip, and that's against salary-cap rules," league spokesman Tim Frank said Monday night. He declined to disclose the amount of the fine.

"According to league rules, they have to bet at least 50% of their gambling dues on red. And Van Gundy has wagered too much of his job on Blacks."

MIAMI -- Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy, who led the team to the best record in the Eastern Conference a season ago, resigned Monday citing family reasons. Namely, Pat Riley threatened to kill one of his daughters if he didn't step down and let Riley coach the team.

When asked if Jeff Van Gundy was also gonna quit because of family reasons, Stan's older brother stared into the camera and said "I have no family."
